Workshop calls it quits

After almost 4 years as a band, releasing 1 album, playing tons of shows and filling the internet with video blogs and other madness, we who are Workshop have decided to call it quits. This was a very hard decision for us to make and we have long pondered over it. Workshop has been a part of all our lives and we will forever cherish our moments together as a band and the support we've received over the years from friends, family, fans and any other catagory of people we may have excluded.

Workshop in essence was Sahil, Riju and Hamza. It just doesn't feel the same anymore and it would be wrong to continue the project without us being 100% into it, it wouldn't be fair to us or the fans. So we feel that it is time to call it quits.

We were in the process of writing and recording our 2nd album and while we don't know what to do with the music but we are goign to complete the recording process and then take a call if we should release it or not. But for now the band Workshop is now over. So we put down our yellow hard hats and undress ourselves out of the jump suits or 'broiler' suiits as Demonstealer once called them and we hang them up high.

We loved every minute of this awesome journey and we received so much love and support and even braved the critisim we often faced about ruining metal/music by adding humor to it, but given the chance we'd do it all over again. Workshop was an extension of who we are as people and when people are not there anymore it cannot be Workshop.

We're rambling now, but that is mainly because it is always painful to say goodbye. So stay funny, stay fantastic and we'll see you on the dark side of the spoon.

Playing at Inferno has been a dream (alongside dreams of playing at Wacken Open Air) and I was over the moon when we got confirmed for the festival, not to mention that Rikskonsertene (concerts Norway) were funding our trip as part of their exchange program with India. However we had to wait a whole month and a half before we could announce the good news to our fans in India. But when we did the support we received was incredible.

We started getting our Visas done in March (Viru finally has a passport) and it still didn't hit me that we were indeed going to Norway to play Inferno. We were scheduled to leave India on Tuesday 30th March at 2am. So the entire band got together at my place to pick up the gear and have a celebratory dinner before leaving for the airport. The fact that there was free booze on the flight heightened our excitement. We reached the airport on time (for a change) and got all our check in formalities done with plenty of time to spare, thankfully we were also not overweight with the luggage so that was a big relief. We chilled out at Coffee and Tea leaf where Mephisto's 300 Rs Ice Cafe Mocha was quite yummy. Finally we boarded the flight, which was thankfully on time and we geared up for the journey to Norway.

We were served a light snack on the flight which was abysmal to say the least, we flew on Air France. I stayed up watching 2012 on the flight which was the perfect inflight movie to watch :) and finally fell asleep only to wake up to a rather smelly omelette for breakfast. We landed in Paris and made our way to the terminal for our connecting flight. It was raining in Paris and even though we couldn't see much out of the city it was quite beautiful and gloomy. I think this is when it really hit me that I was on a plane to Norway. We had a 4 hour wait before the connecting flight where Husain again rejoiced at the free booze coming his way. Two hours later we touched down in Norway. On the flight Daniel and (I think) Viru chatted up this tattoo artist from Chile who was sitting next to them. We landed in Oslo airport which was pretty empty only to find out that the airline had left Viru's Demon Drive pedal in Paris. Thankfully they knew where it was an assured us that it would come to Oslo on the next flight and be delivered to our hotel the next morning at 9am. So we collected the baggage that did arrive and head out to catch a train to the hotel while Mephisto ran to catch his flight to Bergen where we had a mini vacation planned.

We stepped out of the nice warm airport into the cold outside and caught our 1st glimpse of the snow. We also deviated from the train plan and caught a bus that would drop us right outside our hotel and was leaving in 2minutes so without much deliberation we hopped on board. The hour long bus ride was beautiful and we saw a lot of open space covered in snow, factories and industrial looking areas. But the scenery was really beautiful and not to mention dark and gloomy since there was no sun so to speak. The bus dropped us a block away from our hotel and as nature ran its course I spotted a Burger King in the distance and I knew I would eat dinner there. So we hauled our asses and our luggage to our hotel. Once we reached our hotel we checked in but they could not find either Daniel or Viru's name so after a phone call and the festival organizer reaching the reception in 2minutes exactly (turns out their office was a room in the hotel) we had our rooms. The hotel rooms were great, comfortable and there was free porn on the telly! (Not to mention the most boring porn in world!!). After settling down in our rooms we all met in the lobby and headed to Burger King where I enjoyed the Whopper \m/ yummmm 2 beef patties in a bun with fries. All for about 80NOK which is 640 bucks. After our early dinner (I think it was some 6pm Norway time) we just strolled around and checked out the area around the hotel. However by the time we got back I had got a severe headache from all the hot cold hot cold and popped a crocin and went off to sleep as I had a big day tomorrow at the Inferno Music Conference.
Woke up bright and early at 8am sans the headache and I was feeling good. Woke up the rest of the band and headed down for breakfast only to be greeted by the most amazing fucking breakfast spread EVER! There were 8 kinds of cold cuts, 8 kinds of cheese, breads, fruits, cereal, juice, milk, fish, coffee of all kinds, tea and yada yada yada. Needless to say we all ate till we were ready to BURST! We also saw Gaahl from Gorgoroth walking around the hotel. At breakfast we were also joined by Amit Saigal, Reuben and Sid from RSJ and Shashwath from GnS and it was a big Indian metal party going on. Post breakfast spent some time discussing the presentation at the conference with Shashwath and Amit to ensure that we didn’t repeat the same stuff. We got all our stuff together and headed to the IMC by noon. We loaded up our presentations and ensured everything was working fine. The conference was headed by Anders who is the IMC founder and an important person in the Norwegian music scene. He opened the conference with his seminar on the music biz and how to deal with it in 2010. Bård Torstensen (Clawfinger) was up next with a workshop on studio methods and songwriting which was ok but nothing that I didn’t know but I guess informative for others. The next panel was to be about music in movies and games but 2 of 3 people from the panel were not there and Anders stepped in with the 1 person who was there and tried to get the most out of it but it was quite a fruitless hour IMHO. The Indians (thats us) were up next. Amit Saigal did his presentation 1st giving an overview of the culture in India and how young the rock culture is along with highlighting the scene points about cover bands , great Indian rock, RSJ magazine etc. I followed that up with my words of wisdom on metal in India and went through all the aspects of the scene like the bands, venues, labels, concerts etc etc. I spoke a bit about DSR and Resurrection the festival. Shashwat followed it up with his interesting presentation after which we concluded the conference for that day. The sad part was that there were all of 12 people there for it. On the bright side the coffee was awesome and the cinnamon buns were good. We all went and relaxed for an hour before we had to head to John Dee for the VIP after party and Indie Records listening sessions at John Dee.
So I was late and so was Shaswat so one of the Inferno volunteers took us to the venue which was 10minutes walking distance in the freezing cold. The party venue was dimly lit with a metal DJ playing some tunes, the beer flowing freely and some really appetizing looking food. Since my eyes were on the food there was a sausage and mushroom mix, Swiss cheese, meatballs, garlic butter prawns, some veggie stuff, pork in some form, bread and salad. There we met some bands (read Keep of Kalessin) and generally listened to some new releases from Indie Recordings which included The Shinning, 1349 and Keep of Kalessin. It was really cool. The party/listening session ended at 8pm after which we headed downstairs to catch ‘The Shining’ and man even though I only stayed for 2 songs they were fucking ripping the place us, their sound was intense and chaotic. So we left to catch Scribe at Bla and walked a good long way before reaching there. The stage was empty and there was almost an hour for the gig to start so we just chilled with the Scribe guys till Spearhead took the stage, tight band but their sound was so-so with the bass farting on the PA (welcome realization that bad sound can happen anywhere in the world). There must have been 30 people when these guys started and by the time Scribe took the stage maybe 70 people were there. Scribe didn’t receive the warmest welcome since most guys there seemed to be old school metal heads but 2-3 songs into the set Vishwesh got some of them on stage to do the windmill and by the end of it had them all converted. For the last song Vishwesh got me and Reuben to come on stage and do the windmill as well. Highlight of the set was Vishwesh putting a jacket over his head and doing the windmill. Insane! Scribe’s set was short, approx 40min after which Vomitry setup and waited to start. Their drummer was this huge 6 foot something monster who was insanely fast on the kit and was just blasting all through the set with some of the most amazing fills I’ve heard. Spent most of their set watching him before we decided to call it a night and head back to the hotel. By this time Mephisto had reached Oslo and joined us at the hotel. So did Viru’s pedal bag.
Woke up bright and early again and today was the big day! Went downstairs and had a good breakfast, ate a little less than the previous day. There were many more metal heads roaming the hotel today, lots of people checking in as well. After breakfast the band jammed while I made my way to the venue to deliver the merchandise. When I walked into the venue I was stunned, what a fucking venue! When you enter and cross a long passageway you reach the main stage which was a huge stage about 8 feet off the ground with enough standing space in front for 800 people at least and there was a balcony level 1 where you can watch the bands from, a 2nd balacony as well which leads out to smoking area on the terrace where there is also barbeque in the nights and a VIP. Oh yeah every single fucking room has a BAR! Moving back to the ground floor. The left hand side of the main stage had a room twice the size of razz (but shaped like a tunnel) filled with various stores selling metal merchandise. I kid you not there must have been about 2000 t-shirts of every single band from Emperor to Mayhem to Cannibal Corpse to Decide to Gojira to god knows what. CDs, patches, rings, pendants, vynl, cds, tapes, full sleeves, half sleeves, girlie t-shirts, sweat shirts, hoodies, caps, wrist bands, statues, ash trays, ear and nose piercings etc etc. It was metal heaven. The right side of the stage had 3 live tattoo artists where you could get a tattoo done at the festival. There was the official festival merch which was selling albums and t-shirts of the bands playing as well as the festival merch. From this section you go downstairs to the John Dee venue which was a 400 capacity venue which was like a better version of Razz. It was a perfect setting for metal. So after checking out the entire venue I headed back to the hotel after I dropped off the DR merch to the stall.
Once I got back we decided to get a quick bite at McDonalds at around 4:30. We were going to be picked up at 6:30 to be taken to the venue. So we did 1 last jam and got ready and headed down to the hotel lobby where we met our driver and got taken to the venue. We entered the backstage area and headed to the stage which was covered by a black curtain, we met all the technicians, got all our requirements sorted out and then got taken to our green room, which was 1 of 3 in the backstage area. We had everything we needed, chips, drinks, fruit etc to munch on, there were even showers available. We chilled out for a bit, I went down and checked out the band performing before us which was Svarttjern a local black metal band with the complete getup of corpse paint and spikes and everything, they sounded really good. I went back up and we all got ready to kick some ass. We got called once Svarttjern finished and we began our setup, all behind the black curtain. Sadly we had no contact with anyone we knew so I was worried about how to film our set. After our setup and soundcheck we were ready to go. It was one of the smoothest and most easy soundchecks ever, we had a small scare with the module when it was hitting a few extra notes but it was sorted soon. I managed to place the camera on the monitor mixer and get a decent angle but the camera gave some errors and the monitor mix engineer filmed a bit of each song and my mistake of leaving the night vision on. Anyway that side another epic fail moment was when I was to play the intro from my ipod only to realize I had not carried the file with me since I had formatted the damn thing and didn’t recopy it. So we got out a CD and managed to get it played. So here we were standing behind the black curtain, we peeked outside and saw that the place was packed.
The lights went out, the intro started playing ‘Between Infinity And Oblivion’ and the curtained was opened. The venue was full, I felt a sense of pride standing there, 10 years of hard work and dedication has taken us to that stage and this was just the beginning. The intro ended and we broke into ‘Where Dreams And Darkness Unite’ and there was no stopping us from there on. We followed it up with Apocalyptic Dawn, The Unrelenting Surge of Vengeance, The Warriors Return and Frozen Portrait. We got the audience support and had most of them banging their heads, raising their fists and doing what metal heads do. In Norway people don’t really mosh its all about watching the concert, banging your head and raising your fist. So we definitely got a great response for our. Infact even though Belphegor started playing people stayed till we finished Frozen Portrait. It was just the most amazing experience ever. The curtain closed and that was the end of our set, we did what we set out to do and that was kick some ass. So we got all our gear packed and Mephisto, Husain and Daniel ran off to catch Belphegor while I packed my stuff met a few fans who stayed back and figured out the car scenes with Viru. So once Belphegor was done we got our gear together and headed to the hotel dropped it in our rooms and headed right back. Daniel however decided to call it a night and was kind enough to give me his JD coupons. So we headed back and went straight to the catering section which was like a nice cosy restaurant where the bands and crew ate. There were some delicious chicken legs, fried Cod and something similar to cous cous salad and bread. We ate and ate and my god that was some good food!! After this we headed back to the festival area and all went our own way. I met Anders at the merch stall and spoke to him for a bit, he liked DR’s performance and he introduced me to a few important people like the editor of Metal Hammer Germany among others. After that it was party time and we went up to the room where the VIP was, everyone was there and I downed about 4 Jack and Cokes and chilled out and met people and hung with the boys from India. Caught the end of Fintrolls set and they sounded good. Followed that up by watching Marduk afterwards, man their drummer is a monster behind the kit, blasting away. By this time I was high on JD and we walked back to the hotel after Marduk played since they were the last band. So at 2:30 in the morning we decided to go to the only place that was open to eat which was some Arabic place where we got this pita bread stuffed with fried mutton, corn and lettuce covered in a killer garlic white sauce and some spicy sauce. Thankfully at 49NOR it was a fairly cheap meal. Once we finally managed to finish the monster we just went to our rooms and crashed.

Woke up next morning feeling pretty sick and just relaxed and chilled out and went for a late breakfast. Ate even less today than the previous day since last night’s Pita bread sickness was still lingering. Met Anders again and was introduced to SAMOTH who was chilling with him. It was quite surreal and I cursed that I didn’t carry my Emperor CDs to get signed. Since we weren’t played today I decided to relax in the afternoon after I took some time to visit a souvenir shop to buy something to bring back. Mephisto and Husain went on the black metal bus which was a tour of all the black metal related things in Norway, they were shown the 1st metal shop, some of the burnt churches etc etc. Once they got back the entire band decided to head out to Elm Street Cafe for a heavy metal burger. So we got to the cafe and tasted an ass kicking burger. Also saw a band setting up to play there that night. Little Daniel decided he was not hungry enough to order a burger but the moment we stepped out he got hungry. He rang to Burger King which was not open so we stopped at a 7 Eleven store where the young land proceeded to eat not 1 or 2 but 3 BIG BELGIAN WAFFLES covered in chocolate. Needless to say he felt ill after. I myself played it safe and had 1 for desert and it was delicious. We got back to the hotel and got ready and left for the festival. We walked in to find Nick Barker sitting at the tattoo stall getting a tattoo. Husain later managed to meet him and catch a bit. Meanwhile I managed to catch Ram-Zet which was a really interesting band. There were 3 women, 1 violin, 1 keyboardist and 1 vocalist plus the other 2 did backing vocals. Their music was really energetic and interesting. The bassist was groovy as fuck. Really enjoyed their set after which I ran down to John Dee to catch Blodspor a local band whose music seemed fairly hardcore to me. Very tight, reminded me of Scribe for some reason minus Vishwesh’s funny bone. These guys even dedicated a song to DR and I was really touched. I caught Benediction next who had Nick Barker on drums, their music is not really my thing but they were fun to watch. They were the only band at Inferno to get a mosh going and when I mean mosh it was like a very baby non violent mosh, maybe 10 guys pushing each other around for 2minutes. The Inferno crowd is more about standing, watching, raising your metal fist and headbanging or doing the windmill. Next up were Obscura at John Dee and after 1 song I got bored and went upstairs to chill. I went right up front to the main stage and waited for Ihsahn to take stage. It was not long before the curtain opened and I realized he had a really young backing band. They started with ‘The Barren Lands’ which gave me goosebumps and went straight into ‘A Grave Inversed’ it was really cool. He played Scarab, Misanthrope and a couple of other tracks from all the albums; they kept changing between their 8 string and 7 string guitars. There were 2 other guitarists apart from Ihsahn. They even did Unhealer with the keyboardist singing Akerfeldts cleans and the guitarist doing the death growls. It was pretty insane, however Ihsahn made a few mistakes here and there, he forgot a solo in one of the songs and the band made a few noticeable goof ups but I couldn’t care because I was really looking forward to their performance. I walked around and shopped for a bit while Ragnarok played at John Dee just before Mayhem took main stage. Their set was intense; they had pyros, costumes and animal carcasses. It was pretty interesting to watch and they crucified their vocalist before the last track. By this time most of DR was already back at the hotel so I rushed back and quickly got my luggage and met the band in the hotel lobby at 3am. We got into the pickup car and drove to the airport for our 6am flight. And that was the end of our trip to Inferno. It certainly was a memorable one and we can’t wait to go back again and play there.

The artwork has been done by Xaay who has previously worked with the likes of Nile, Karl Sanders, Necrophagist and Behemoth. The album features 10 tracks of Demonic metal.

Demonic Resurrection confirmed for Brutal Assault 2010

Demonic Resurrection, India's premier metal band is all set to make their debut European performance at none other than the Brutal Assault Festival in 2010 along with Cannibal Corpse, Devin Townsend and many other great artists.

Demonic Resurrection is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on their much awaited 3rd album 'The Return To Darkness' which is slated for a December 2009 release. A pre production clip has been uploaded on their myspace.

Virendra Kaith(Demonic Resurrection) joins worldwide family of artist of Mapex Drums & Zildjian Cymbals

Demonic Resurrection skin slammer Viru (Virendra Kaith) signs up to endorse Zildjian Cymbals and Mapex Drums. Virendra joins the Mapex and Zildjian families of worldwide artists and is along great drummers like Chris Adler (Mapex), Aquiles Priester (Mapex), Dennis Chambers (Zildjian), Marco Minnemann (Zildjian), Gavin Harrison (Zildjian) and many more great drummers.

Viru is the only extreme metal drummer from India to endorse Zildjian cymbals.

Virendra speaks "It's like a dream come true for me. As a drummer being an endorsee for brands like Mapex and Zildjian are what we dream of and I've been an avid user of both brands before my endorsement so I couldn't have asked for anything better. It feels great to be recognized for my drumming which is something I've worked on for almost a decade. I'm ecstatic about this and looking forward to working with both brands on a long term basis."

Viru is currently recording Demonic Resurrection's third full-length album titled 'The Return To Darkness'. The album is due for release this November through Demonstealer Records. The band will also embark on an India tour to promote the album and are looking to book festival dates for 2010.

Demonic Resurrection Re-Releases 'Beyond The Darkness' EP for FREE Download

Indian melodic metallers Demonic Resurrection have re-released their 2007 EP titled 'Beyond The Darkness' online for download on http://www.gimmesound.com/DemonicResurrection

The EP was released in 2007 by Demonstealer Records as part of a 3-way split 'Rise Of The Eastern Blood' which also featured Dusk (Pakistan) and Severe Dementia (Bangladesh). The EP saw the band change from a more medieval theme and sound to a more celestial path.

Well for starters I'll give everyone a brief idea about how this came about. We were part of Channel V Launchpad which had a 'session' where we had to cover a song and long story short this was the song we got stuck with. We heard the song and it was terrible and messed up and blah blah!!! Basically we revamped the song and a lot of people have been asking me for the lyrics, which I altered for the WS version of the song. So I thought its time I post them for everyone.

Workshop Live @ Furtados - Tour Diary

Well there is not much of a tour diary to write so post your reviews people

Well since this was an instore gig and it was not your regular Workshop show we decided initially to try and do an acoustic set. But due to Raj not being available for Jams we dropped the idea and went with a regular set but we added a twist.

We got 3 guest vocalists for the show. Bipro (Ex-Zohak/JATIC) to sing Kothai Doro Cho, Mangesh (Coshish) to sing Bunty Aur Malika Sherwath and Siddhart Basrur (Kinky Ski Munky) to sing Cookie Monster. We jammed with them once before the gig at my place and then headed straight to the venue.

The venue was packed, not a big order considering how small it was but it was an intimate gathering of Workshops most intelligent fans for sure. Brain Fry started the show and were pretty decent, did a bunch of acoustic covers. Cats in the Cradle being my fav and a couple of Arjuns originals. We proceeded with our set after that.

Demonic Resurrection Tour Diary - Dhanbad, Jalandhar, Silchar & Anand

When we got calls from ISMU in Dhanbad and NIT in Jalandhar everyone in the band was stunned, cause we have never in our wildest dreams ever thought that metal existed in these cities let alone we would be called to perform there. But we were proved wrong and HOW!!

The 2 days was pure madness, non stop traveling from 1 end of the country and at both gigs playing to a fantastic audience that appreciated our music and kept asking for more.

Our journey started with everyone landing up at the airport around 6pm on Friday evening to catch our flight. Our man Daniel's brother had crushed him into a wall while reverse parking the car, by accident ofcourse and poor Daniel had his hand in a bandage. However nothing was broken but it was fairly painful for him and he had a can or 2 of relispray and crape bandage to hopefully heal it by show time.

So we casually check in our luggage only to find ourselves in the excess baggage zone but after making some successful arrangements (which involved more hand luggage) we managed to get away without paying anything. The flight to Kolkata was fairly pleasant however the I did fire Daniel for buying a 150Rs sandwich because its such a waste of money . On landing at Kolkata at 10pm we wait for our pickup which had not arrived. We were soon informed that on the way the car tire had burst but thankfully no one was injured. So we had a wait at the airport and man Kolkata airport is DEAD!! there is nothing there so we are some really bad snacks from the lone snack vendor till the cars finally arrived at Mid-night. So we loaded up all the gear and made our way to Dhanbad in the middle of the night.

The drive was amazing because its so freaking dark and there are no lights and there must have been a gazzillion trucks on the way and we even saw a huge accident where a truck was overturned in the middle of the road and all the goods spilled over and stuff. We also stopped at some Hindustan Restaurant on the way where we sat on these cots outside and ordered some food. The restaurant had these very shady 'cabins' labeled Cabin 1 thru 5 which were little booths in the walls with curtains for privacy and we did not want to know what in the world went on inside those. I ordered some dish called CHICKEN OIL FRY. because the CHICKEN PAKODA was over. Also a butter alu paratha which had some weird masala in it which just gave us quite some misery later on We set off again after eating and finally landed in Dhanbad at the hotel around 6am in the morning.

The hotel was absolutely KICK ASS!!! We have so far received very average rooms and stuff but this hotel felt like a 5 star and it was really really awesome and we loved the place. We all reached and crashed immediately as we had little or no sleep in the car. It was the complimentary breakfast that made us wake up at 10am and we headed down minus the sleeping Mephisto for breakfast and we also bumped into members of Rudra and met up with Anupam who was doing sound for us that evening and Shashwat the Narsil vocalist who now manages Rudra among other bands for shows. After a healthy breakfast we headed back to sleep and woke up around 1:30 to get ready for soundcheck.

However our plans were cut short when we saw outside a HUGE dust-storm and lots of wind which was looking quite wicked. I even saw a bird in flight get blown around a bit. And followed that was RAIN!!! Meanwhile we surfed the channels to see if launchpad was being telecast since I missed it the previous night. Finally we decided to head down for lunch after we were told the stage was a mess due to rain and needed some fixing up. So we had lunch with the organizers and figured out the game plan that DR would head to the venue by 6 or so and soundcheck and then play by around 8.

So we got our stuff together and went to the venue which was like a football field in the campus and we got started on our soundcheck. It was great having Anupam around and we did the most detailed soundcheck ever. So we were all set and ready to rock the place. We left our stuff and headed to a temp guesthouse where we geared up for the gig.

We got back and took stage and a young announcer start to read out the DR bio in an attempt to introduce the band but was cut short by Anupam who informed him it was starting to rain and the band HAD to start playing and so we proceeded with our Demonic Assault. The crowd which was small had turned into a huge one and they were going quite crazy. I'm sure not all of them were metalheads and only a select section had probably ever head DR or a metal band before last night when Rudra played but they were freaking out and having a good time. On the other side of the stage the faculty sat quietly on chairs and enjoyed our performance or so I think

It even started raining during our set and I was standing on the ramp headbanging during Frozen Portrait getting soaked in the rain but the crowd was going crazy and we really had a blast. We thought we were done after our last song but the crowd would not let us go that easily and we finally had to play another song and since we had no songs left we just played Spirits of The Mystic Mountains again and they sure did have a good time. Our dear Danny boy played a flawless set even if the sprained hand though he was in a fair amount of pain after the show. Mephisto was put on a riser for the 1st time. Viru was solid on the kit. Husain was the star of the show with his bass humps and assorted moves and I apparently had some ridiculous stage banter but definitely Dhanbad is on the metal map now

After the set we packed our gear and like some serious celebrities were escorted via a back route to the bus as we were told if we went out front we would certainly be mobbed. So we took a bus back to the hotel where we quickly proceeded to pack our bags and get some dinner. We loaded up the cars and left the hotel by mid-night to catch the 7am flight from Kolkata. The ride to the airport was awesome and the drivers went a little crazy too driving on the wrong side of the road at 1 point of time. I think the car I was in had a more sober driver. Either way we reached the airport all safe and sound and boarded our flight to Delhi.

We landed at Delhi airport at 10am and bid adieu to Shashwat and Anupam. We all took a required bathroom break and found our cars and loaded them up. We left Delhi airport by 11am for Jalandhar with Mephisto letting us know that we need to find a McDonalds and stock up on burgers as our delicate stomachs cant handle Dhaba food. However it was a LONG LONG time before we finally got to a McDonalds but we did get our burgers and continued the journey.

We originally thought it was a 5hour journey tops, obviously some wrong information had been passed to us or we assumed something wrongly because Anupam and Shashwat told us it was going to be 6-7hours approx. So we did all the maths and hoped we'd reach by 6 considering we left at 11am. That however was not the case and the grueling journey took us 9 fucking hours!! And we reached the venue at 8pm after getting lost around 7:30 in Jalandhar and having an organizer come on a bike and guide us to the venue. We had called earlier saying to start the competition earlier which had 7 bands performing so that we could play after that but the bands apparently wanted to be judged by us so they wouldnt start. Anyway we were more worried trying to figure out what time to leave from there so we could catch our 6am flight and considering it took us 9hours to get there we'd need to leave at 9 or 10 assuming that we'd skip the 1 hour break on the way.

So finally we reached at 8 and went straight to the guesthouse where we got reach and left from at 8:30 to setup and get the show started. There was some light problems which were being sorted also and the faculty and crowd were getting restless asking when the band is going to start. So we got on stage and in 30min flat we got our shit together. The venue was like a mini Hamsadwani amphitheater or a mini rang bhavan and there was a dark funeral pentagram logo with the goats head in the centre with Demonic Resurrection written on it which was hand drawn by a college student and it was a BIG ass drawing and very very cool.

The amphitheater was packed with like 2000 people and I swear it felt like a mini GIR. The moment we started our set the place erupted like volcano. I mean FUCK!!! Everyone just got up and moved in front and went MAD!!! They were headbanging and screaming and just went crazy and got crazier with each song. Again granted there were quite a few metal heads but enough non metal heads I would think. But they were so fucking loud at times the band couldn't hear the stage monitors because the crowd was louder than that. I can safely say this has been one of the best crowds we've ever played too and they were really great!! Jalandhar is also on the metal map now!!

It was phenomenal and we finished at 10:30 and proceeded to speed pack all our gear and head outside to the car where we signed a bunch of autographs and sold some merchandise on the fly and got ready to leave.

So 11pm we left Jalandhar and as per the new improved planned stopped at the 1st McDonalds drive through on the way out. Got some grub and proceeded to drive to Delhi. I forgot to mention that even though it was 9 hours on the way to Jalandhar it was a beautiful journey and it was extremely scenic and beautiful along the way. The way back was equally awesome with it being all dark and gloomy and it was freaking cold!!! So this was one long ride back and I had to stay awake making sure our driver didn't pass out at the wheel. Anyway we finally made it to Delhi airport in the nick of time. We saw some accidents on the way and even got stopped by cops at a random check but we made it safely to Delhi airport which had a security check que the length of the great wall of china but we were ushered through as our flight was boarding already. I think everyone just passed out as soon as we sat cause none of us remembered when the flight took off and when it landed and whether if any of this Indigo air hostesses tried to sell us 150Rs non veg sandwich.

So we landed in Mumbai at 10am and everyone rushed to their respective places of work. This was one mad fucking weekend and I loved every minute of it and hopefully we'll get to play many more such awesome cities like Dhanbad and Jalandhar. I am really looking forward to Silchar and Anand next month.

After the madness at Jalandhar and Dhanbad shows last month we were really looking forward to the gigs at Silchar and Anand and hoping to continue creating mayhem at every venue we played. However this tour had a lot of ups and downs and while it was great it certainly could have been a little better.

On Wednesday morning we received word from Mephisto that his mom had been admitted to the hospital as she was suffering from a relapse of cancer and we were all extremely shattered by the news. This also meant Mephisto wasn't going to be able to play the shows this weekend so we got down to the task of figuring out our options whether to try and find someone to play with us and learn 10 songs in 2 days as we were leaving Friday morning or to try and run the keyboard parts on tapes or just play 4 piece and cut certain songs from our set list. We tried a few keyboardists but most people we called were either unable to manage or not able to come for the gig. Finally thanks to Daniels contacts we reached a keyboardist called Anurag who was fairly confident he could learn most of the songs in 2 days and play the shows. I found out he was none other than the keyboard player from a band called Dark Ritual which had covered Demonic Resurrections track 'A Darkness Descends' which is up on youtube. So without any waste of time I emailed him the tracks and fixed a jam for Thursday morning. So next morning at 12 he lands up at my place to jam with me and he comes over and I walk over to my cupboard and I open it and to my shock there was no keyboard there. Officially my most embarrassing moment. I remember then that it was lying at Mephistos brothers house in Mahim as he took it there after the last tour. So after a few calls we decided to go to the Juhu Furtados and jam there and I would pick up the keyboard and meet him again in the evening before the DR jam. So after the jam I was fairly confident as he is a great player and he knew most of the songs but just had to get the structure right and after the jam I got the keyboard and went home.

Then came hurdle number #2 - the tickets!! Everything was booked in Jetesh Menons name so we started calling organizers and the problem was that the tickets were group booking and non refundable so there was options of re-booking at our expense and or to fake his ID and go but since it was too expensive and the latter too risky we told him we'd just go 4 piece and he could play the Gujarat show but Mephisto called to say he'd come to Gujarat. So a big thanks to Anurag for agreeing and sorry that we couldn't take him finally. But he is a great keyboard player. Big thanks from all of DR.

Anyway so we had an interesting jam and made the required alternatives to keyboard parts for all the songs except Apocalyptic Dawn which got dropped from the set. We all landed at the airport at 5:30 next morning to fly to Kolkata and then Silchar. We had a nice flight to Kolkata where we met up with our engineer Anupam Roy who flew in from Delhi and basically chilled for 2 hours before our flight to Silchar around noon. The Silchar flight was short and sweet with some atrocious in flight veg food from Air India. The Silchar airport is the smallest airport I've ever seen since its an army base airport or something, heck I didn't even see bathrooms but we landed all safe and sound and got all our luggage and met the organizers who had got three cars for us which we loaded and headed to the hotel which was an hours drive from the airport. The drive was absolutely awesome and there was lots of empty spaces and greenery and dusty roads etc etc to see along the way. We were put up at the best hotel in Silchar (there aren't many to begin with) called Hotel Borailview which was not bad at all!!! So we checked in and I shared a room with Daniel. The immediate order was Anupam ordering some cream of chicken soup which was awesome and I followed suit. He also ordered some fucked up thing called Fish Mayonnaise which was some strange fish in a plate of mayonnaise with salt on it. Certainly that became the threat of the day be bad and get fed FISH MAYONNAISE!!! So we chilled out and decided we'd go catch the Pink Floyd cover band called BREATHE performing at the festival. I thought I'd give it a miss and catch Launchpad instead but since there was every channel except V and Starworld I too decided to tag along.

So we squeezed into a car with the organizers and headed for the college which was about 30mintues away. Our driver was going pretty fast and man are the roads messed up in Silchar or what!!! Lots of cows, pedestrians and autos without headlights and the trucks!!! So somewhere along the way some dude on a bike tried to overtake us and did not see an oncoming rickshaw due to it not having any headlights and he slammed into our car from the side and took along the hubcap of the wheel with him. He went a bit ahead and stopped and our man the driver got out and them some locals gathered around and some screaming and shouting started. Not to mention this all happened after we stopped at a pan walla and some weed was purchased for our man Husain. Not even 100 meters away we were happily stopped by some army personnel and everyone shat because there was weed in the car but our driver started yelling about the incident that just took place about his hub cap being removed and so on and we drove off while the security personnel went forward to inspect the scene. We reached the campus which was HUGE!!! It was like HUGE!!! And so green and HUGE!! Let me emphasize on the word HUGE! The stage and light setup was fairly small but we were informed that rain and storm had sort of destroyed the construction the day before so this was the best they could manage. The Pink Floyd band was alright but I got fairly bored and we decided best to leave and go back to the hotel. But Viru-I'm-always-on-the-phone was nowhere to be found and a mini man hunt began till we found him wandering in some dark corner of the field talking on his phone. So we headed back and chilled out in the restaurant in the hotel and had some Chinese food and drinks, special mention for the HE-MAN 9000 beer bottle!!! After a nice long drawn out dinner we went to our rooms and fell into deep slumber.

So we woke up the next morning and basically just chilled the fuck out for half the day, had a nice breakfast, lazed around, worked on some patches on Daniels pod, saw a few videos on Anupams Mac Book pro which he was showing around. We had a great lunch at the restaurant and by 4:30 or so we headed to the venue for soundcheck and the show. Basically at the venue also everything was chilled out the sound guys were chillin, the people were chillin and everyone was just chillin so we roamed about til the chillin sound guys returned from whever and we started setting up and KABLAM!!!!! Rain hit the stage!!! Okay it was a mild drizzle but basically all the covers came out, stage gear was packed away and we had another chill session till stage setup began again. First order of business was to remove the drum riser since it was so small that Viru would have fallen off it for sure. Then our long ass sound-check began. Anupam began getting things ready at the console and started the drum sound-check and MAN did he make them sound good. We reached the guitar sound-check point to find out that the given Marshall stack was not working (another reason to dislike cheap solid state marshall amps) and I used the 100 watt Hartke amp much to my dislike. So we had a good sound-check and decided that we'd be performing 1st so that the rain doesn't wash us out later. We ran backstage and got ready.

This really cool growling announcer kid was on stage introducing the band and we walked on stage to quite a roar!!! It must have been about 1200 people max but they sure were an enthusiastic bunch of people!!!

Yes they didn't want us to get off stage so we played Dismembering as an additional track. Now for once I actually carried my digital camera on the trip but smartly forgot to hand it over to someone to click photos while DR performed. I also smartly said lets take one of those Iron Maiden style snaps on stage with the crowd in the background and called all the band members in front only to realize that I had left the camera in the bag so little Daniel ran and retrieved it while the rest of us loitered on stage. Once the camera found its way to the stage into the hands of an able photographer we posed near the ramp and within 30 seconds fans from stage left and stage right had jumped up and nicely positioned themselves left and right of the band and then more came onto the stage covering us completely seemed everyone wanted to be in the photo so the organizer Niraj hurried on stage got us off and got the crowd back down. We had a great time during our performance. It was DR's most brutal set ever!!! Anupam gave us some MAD MAD sound during the performance and I was completely happy with the show. Few highlights were some dude constantly shouting ''Khooni Murga' like 10 times during the show and someone else I was informed shouted 'Sahil is cute' not to mention a bunch of 5 randomly screaming 'Bada maza aaya' ... dont worry there were more then plenty chants of DR song names, thats normal hence I'm not stressing on those

So we got of stage, met lots of people, took lots of snaps, proceeded to the stalls to eat some butter naan, chilly chicken dry and noodles and rice. Not to mention we found this COW that was eating chicken fried rice and chicken noodles!!! Needless to say people assisted the beast in its quest for meat. While all this Boomerang played a great show!! By the time we had got off stage it was 11pm or so and I have no idea where the time went. So I think around 12:30 or 1pm Boomerang got off stage and then we all sat down and got ready to judge the band contest!!!

And by all I mean just me and the Boomerang Vocalist Aateya (hope I spelled it correct) judging it. The 1st band to take the stage was Sanitarium and as their name suggest they played METALLICA!! My god I can't believe this hang up isn't getting over yet but that aside they Butchered 2 Metallica songs and followed it with an original. The riff used in their song was a complete ripoff of Korns Blind. So after them came a sort of hardcore band called Suzys Penitence and they covered some Ateryu and did some originals. Their vocalist was INSANE!! Great screams, decent guitar players and solid bassist and drummer. They were followed by Dr. Luke who got on stage, had technical issues and then got off stage. On came a band called Myth of Fate which had a female singer and man they blew me away!!! What a great band, superb presence!!! Great vocals. Only the guitar player was thoda sloppy and their Evanescence cover did not have good male vocals. But that aside they kicked ass only to make way for Dr. Luke finally who came on stage and kicked an equal amount of ass with their funky music and really great singer, very tasteful guitarist and tight bassist and drummer. They rocked!! Then came the next band whose name I cannot recall but they did some RHCP and were good till they attempted Micheal Jacksons Black or White which the singer completely butchered. So once they were done came the last and final band Silver Tears from Guwahati. They had lots of sound problems. Their songs were kind of just going nowhere. Lots of shredding etc. Great musicians but the whole band just didnt sort of cut it together but a good effort. Anyway the results were Dr.Luke came 1st and Myth of Fate came in 2nd place.So finally we called it a night.... I mean morning since it was 4:30 in the freaking morning!! I must add that somewhere around 2am DR members nicely went back to the hotel except myself who was judging and Husain who kept me company . Not to mention I kept making random announcements on the mic about random things along with DR T-shirts and CDs on sale which was great fun and we chilled!!!

So the next morning we woke up at 10, had our breakfast, packed our bags and headed for the airport!! We had a 2:45pm flight to Kolkata where we had to chill till our 8:40 flight to Mumbai and so we did and it was quiet a drag. Anyway we finally boarded our flight and landed in Mumbai at like 11:30 or so and we decided to try and leave for Anand that night itself instead of the planned 6am since we'd not really get any sleep during the night but that plan did not work out so we all headed home.

Monday morning 6am we were all promptly at Husains house with all the gear and loaded up and ready to leave for Anand. The drive there was very pleasant and it was my 1st time driving on the Surat expressway or whatever its called and it was pretty cool. We saw tanks and army vehicles being transported along the way, saw about 3 hotels called 'Decent' and a nice Non Veg restaurant. No it really was called NICE. So we cruised and landed in Gujarat at around 2:30pm it was a long drive so we were exhausted. We met the organizers who took us to the nearby Dominoes for lunch and we did feast! They told us the stage and sound was being setup and we could go to the hotel and chill and come back for sound-check after that. I however said I'll just go have a look at the sound setup and speak to the engineer etc since there was no Anupam on this trip. And I walk into the venue and my horrors of horrors!!! The sound is 100% GANPATI MANDAP SOUND!!! FUCK!!!

The mixer is placed touching the stage left. The speakers are about 10 feet away from the stage left and right. The stage is 2 feet off the ground looking terrible. The backdrop is some design with full Gujarati prem katha written on it. And the speaker themselves are just random speakers aligned next to each other 10 random speakers on each side, no highs low or mids, just speakers. I swear it looked like some exhibition of speakers!!! WTF!!! We screamed bloody murder. We called aside the organizers and explained the dire situation of the sound and that we would possibly not perform on the system provided. To my horror it was a MONO system!!! So some chit chat trying to sort things but from the looks of it this was all the sound possible. Anything else would have to come from Baroda. Husain took control as manager and basically whopped ass because we had given them a technical ryder for sound requirements 20days in advance as well as asked for the sound persons number 5 times and we were confidently assured that everything would be available and there were no issues. Everything was WRONG!! The concept of drum mics didn't exist. Well he had drum mics but he had about 10 pieces of a single model of microphones which went on each drum part, no sm57 for snare no separate kick mic, nothing like a condenser for overheads. My god it was madness. I inspected the sound further. No Eq for PA, no compressor, no gate!!! We basically had to ensure we got paid before anything took place and this sound system was not happening at all. Finally we suggested that they setup the stage etc (which was not done yet) and we'd go to the hotel and they could call us when its ready. We would soundcheck and see if I could make it sound decent on the PA and we'd play then else we'd just take our payment and leave. So on the way out I said let me just tell him where to place the guitar amps. I walked up and just casually asked the sound guy what amps he had carried. Our gujju bhai just shook his head and said nahi hai. I then turned my shocked expression to the organizer in hope that maybe he got it from Heavens Music who supplied a nice Pearl Kit for the show. In return I got the blank expression of a NO. The shit did hit the fan!! There were NO amps!!! Even the most basic rock listener knows you need a guitar amp and a bass amp!! By now we were just insanely messed up and just spent the next 10-15minutes trying to figure out where the hell the amps were going to come from. Finally we just left and went to the hotel.

At the hotel the organizers paid us a visit and lets just say there was a lot of discussion. Some possible solutions attempts and a very firm stand on payment. Finally after freshening up me, Daniel and Viru headed to the venue for a sound-check to see if there was any hope of salvaging the situation. We had some old discovered Roland amp on stage which looked like it was from the 1920's and 1 Marshall 15 watt for use. Later we received another 15 watt and a Laney RB2 (which saved the day). And so I began right from the drum micing to monitor placements to aux sends to everything!!! I started the drum sound-check and looked like a complete moron running from the mixer to front of pa and back to mixer to check every eq change I made. Finally I more or less got everything together by that time Husain and Mephisto arrived and I got them to do a sound-check as well. By this time there was a sizable crowd most of which looked like they came to watch Phalguni Phatak. There was a 10pm deadline so obviously that stress had started and we figured we needed to cut our setlist down. When we started our set we got a small mosh going of about 10-15 metal heads which was promtly stopped by the organizers and the metal heads were moved to stage side where they had to enjoy the show from. One of them later defied the law of the land and came up stage front again and headbanged and the organizer promptly manhandled the lad (I did give the organizer a piece of my mind later). Anyway our set-list was.

Most of the audience didn't really understand the music we played nor did we really enjoy ourselves on stage due the shitty sound system. Few people did try to get into the music and the metal heads who showed up a big thanks to them they made the gig worth it. But yeah we've hopefully sowed some of the metal seeds in a city like Anand.

We then proceeded to judge a very short battle of the bands but by far turned out to be the best, most entertaining one ever!!!

Poseidon from Mumbai (I think) played 1st and were a full on metal band and were pretty decent. They had 3 gutars which made somewhat of a mess of it. 2 of them had plugged into the Marshalls and no one realized that those amps were neither mic'd nor was a line out of any sort taken so only 1 guitarist who was using a POD was actually heard on the PA.

Inferno from Bhopal was up next and they took the place by storm with their easy to sing along originals and a slightly odd choice of cover a Megadeth song which was ok. Their vocals were good, nice harmonies and a killer bass player. They eventually won the contest.

Up came the stars of the night. TRASH CASH from Ahemdabad I think. The attitude they came with just shook it up, the front man screamed wildly, said fuck about 1212142343 times and had some mad mad stage energy. Their bassist was mad too he rocked front and back on stage, then bent down and moved like a snake being charmed before the vocalist/guitarist and then randomly got off stage took a round and went back up. Their drummer was smashing the kit like there was no tomorrow it was all so funny that it was actually good. It was true punk energy!!!! We had a blast watching them.

The next band was Crude topped even the Trash Cash performance. The guitarist was armed with a Giveson guitar that sounded like a distorted flush, the bassist was using someone elses bass. They played and how they played. They all (vocalsit. bassist. guitarist) kept randomly talking on the mic and arguing with each other and stopping after starting songs and tuning and it was full LOL and at one point it looked like the guitarist and bassist were going to beat each other and people from the audience were like 'MARO MARO' and the poor vocalist was like don't fight. I think they played 1 song where the distorted flush tried to do some tapping... the result was EPIC FAIL (word of the day) and it was just pure entertainment. We met the guys from the band later, they just had a bad day but they were really nice kids. Don't worry guys if you are reading this there is always next time.

The last band of the night was Lazy Bums. By now some lady in the building behind had died (May God Rest her soul) and the cops were on the organizers ass so the band after lazy bums weren't going to play and the PA volume was negligible. The band had a phenomenal vocalist. He had a great voice. The band was fairly tight but not very exciting and their 2nd song was quite a disaster. And so the contest ended and we went on stage and announced the winners INFERNO!!

After this we headed for dinner to Subway as it was the only place open at that time. After a nice dinner we headed back around mid-night. Our dumbass drive got lost but eventually we found the way and we reached Mumbai at 10:30 in the morning and everyone headed straight to work.

So over all it was a pretty mad mad trip. And so the mad all over the country tour has somewhat ended for now.

Workshop March Mumbai Darshan Tour Diary!!

Its been 2 gigs in a span of 3 days and its been completely madness.

It all started on Sunday afternoon when we landed at Xaviers college in Mahim for our soundcheck at 2:30 only to find the gods of metal Brahma on stage soundchecking and we were told they needed 15minutes more. We also found out that 11am they arrived and had started their setup and soundcheck since then. The organizers were not happy with them to say the least. Anyway we chilled out and by 3:30 they were done. So finally we got on stage only to find out the cops had come and were giving the organizers grief about the sound level and had also threatened the sound guys that they would confiscate their gear.

So there was a lot of running around and calling congress party person and some kid whose mom had a problem with the sound cause her son was faking that he was studying and lots of shit. Also not to mention that there was a wedding making a huge noise outside but there was no issue with that. Anyway finally we were told we can play it at soft volume which sucks because its no fun. We completed our soundcheck which felt fuckall cause there was no juice in the sound and we chilled and the contest bands started playing. We meanwhile got to meet some RJ from Red FM which was funny to say the least.

Anyway Gravity was playing and I believe they made a blunder of some Opeth covers that they attempted. Anyway we got on stage, the volume of the PA was fairly decent though not blasting completely. We had an AWESOME time on stage and the crowd was the best we've ever played too and they really had a good time. I can safely say I'd love to go back and play, this goes down as one of my most memorable gigs ever.

We have a blast and got off stage. Lots of hand shakes, lots of photos, Riju even got 2 pretty ladies to take a photo with him. The teachers also loved our performance. We felt great.

Then Brahma got on stage and played Sad But True. Their engineer cranked the volume despite being warned and then in 3 songs the cops had canned the show. This was sad because right outside was some fucking Holi music being played at 3 times the volume. All I can say is cops, politicians and people in India are MADARCHODS!!! Why the fuck do they stop a rock show when right outside in the name of some stupid festival where people throw balloons filled with dangerous liquids and colour and injure people there is lou music blaring. Why is that not stopped?

Fucking assholes!

Anyway we had a great gig, we got paid immediately. The organization was SUPERB!! Great job team Ironize, you guys did a fantastic job!

We had a days rest and then it was HRC on Tuesday with The Works.

We landed up at soundcheck in the afternoon aruond 4 and the Works did their soundcheck. Again we had sound dot com doing the sound so we were safe
We did soundcheck without Riju as he was BUSY with work and it was fine but not fun cause you really do need the bass for that low end.

Anyway it was a long wait before the gig, we had coffee and ate some free food. Finally the moment of truth had a arrived. There was a decent number of people but since it was early no one was drunk yet

Its a completely different experience playing at HRC with people eating dinner while you play but it was totally fun and I think everyone enjoyed our set even if they weren't as responsive as the crowd at Xaviers, so that part was a bit strange but I for one enjoyed the gig. We also have played the heaviest songs at HRC ever during a prime time slot, the only heavier band would be Bhayanak Maut but that was in the afternoon so

Good good fun!!!

After this the Works took over and played a 2 and a half hour set of classic rock covers, very tight, lots of showmanship and very energetic. I must mention they played 3 songs from Rock on and the response those songs got was the biggest response I've ever seen at HRC from a normal crowd.

So madness indeed.

The gig ended with a giant cheeseburger and nachos!! YUM YUM!!!

We had a good time, footfalls of 416 people that night so it was great!! And a big thanks to Mihir and the Works for making this gig happen and the management at HRC and Groovetemple. We should be playing at HRC in the future

-----------PART II---------------

The month of March has been a good one for Workshop cause we've played 5 gigs. I don't think I've ever played 5 gigs in a month in my life

Anyway we started off with Ironize and Men At Work which I already wrote about.

On the 19th we played at Padmabhushan Vasantdada Patil Pratishthan’s College of Engineering. Which is located in Sion East. Since its been a while since the gig my memory is not at its freshest. Anyway we played at 3pm in the afternoon because Raj has IIT lectures so we pretty much opened the show.

We reached the venue and my god it was the biggest stage in the world. It seemed like it was made for 2 bands but we basically got everything setup while some DJ dude was spinning the latest Bhangra numbers and our sound dude said I know about rock bands because I've heard Rock On or something to that extent. So we started soundcheck. I took no chances and shuffled between the mixer and the stage making sure the PA sound was not too bad. Our Rock On soundman I don't think was impressed that someone was showing him how to do things Anyway we proceeded to eat Samosa while, during and before soundcheck.

We got on stage to quite a timepass crowd with teachers in the front row and we started our set.

Took a bow and got off stage. Had a good time. I ran away home for work. Raj for IIT. Leaving Riju and Hamza with a very very drunk Keshav(Devoid) to judge what they called an Aural Gangrape on their senses in the band competition which I think MH-04 won.

Almost a week later we landed at KC College in Thane, also known as the true birthplace of Workshop!!! Everything was exactly as it had been the last time I visited. The same mandap and stage etc etc. Thankfully it was Wilburns sound so I did not have to worry about any Rock on Engineer. It was early in the afternoon. As usual after setting the stage and sound or rather assisting in the process we sat down to judge the band contest which we did and thankfully it was only 6 bands from which Catharsis came out on top.

We took the stage next and played for about 90 minutes in what I can only describe as probably the wildest fucking gigs ever!!!!

I made sure everyone came to the stage front by saying that only those with aids, gonorrhea or piles should stay at the back. The show was fucking insane!! The crowd was possessed by fucking devils.

Highlights
1. People randomly being lifted up by groups of people and FLUNG on stage. I mean flug like crowd surf with the wave up your ass type. Three or four times, one dude even fell from the stage and got a bit injured. Another one took the monitor power supply with him. Thankfully my gear was unharmed.

2. Random dude runs up on stage, does some mad moves behind me and runs off stage again.

3. I barked into the mic and the crowd barked back and we had a barking match leading Raj to sing Who Let The Dogs Out.

4. Raj making love to his guitar on stage and Riju then making love to Raj....... hahahhaa I'm kidding about this.

5. Me coming to KC college and everyone else coming with me.... buahahahhaha sums up the into to I CAME!!!

We played our whole set after which we were taken to the conference room and fed some nice homely veg food by the MD of the college who I must say is a really really nice chap. The treatment we received at KC was exceptional and I am extremely thankful to them and Workshop really loves playing there.

However veg food and me don't go together so my and Hamza stopped at Bembos on the way back to get some meat into our bodies.

The next day was the RGIT festival and Workshop was somehow convinced into not only playing for an embarrassing gift item but also to judge the contest either because none of the other bands would or as we were told the bands preferred to have us judge. Anyway we said its a nice show and the organizers claimed to be short on funds so we said what the heck. I however have realized that henceforth we will never play another free show again. If you can't pay, we can't play.

Anyway so 9am myself hamza and riju are in a large vehicle headed to the college with our gear to judge the contest. Also Roop (Black) and Bijit (PSYX) were also judging. Our gear was put away and we were given some nice comfortable sofas to judge the contest in the quadrangle sort of area where an unmiced kit and stage that was strange was setup. Anyway after 1 band it got canned because of cops and the elims were shifted to the conference room where we continued the contest till about 3:30. I will mention that the organizers did take good care of us and kept us well fed. The most interesting band was Psychotic Cymbals who played Iron Maiden songs are 10 times the speed and had more stage antics that playing ability. Anyway eventually Zygnema walked away with the prize. Khiladi 2nd and Reverse Polarity 3rd.

Meanwhile at the venue for the main show the drums and amps were late, soundcheck delayed. Sceptre took their soundcheck. Things had gotten really delayed. Prayag Soundcheck and it was almost 6 I think. Basically Zygnema was supposed to have played and been done by 6 and so on and basically Workshop was last and to be on stage at 8:45 and I was repeatedly assured by the organizers that it wont be a problem. Seeing the drastic soundcheck problems I said fuck it Workshop will just check before playing and let the 1st band take the stage. Of course as luck would have it Zygnema is nowhere to be seen so Psyx takes the stage only to have their lead guitarist Bijit receive an electric shock resulting in some yelling that he could have been killed and then some checking of the power supply which was messed up by which time Zygnema had showed up. So power supply was sorted and Zygnema got on stage and played 3 songs and I once again expressed my concern to the organizer saying there is major delay so they agreed that by 8pm Psyx would get off stage. Psyx vocalist apparently also fell off stage during Trooper. Anyway at 8pm Psyx decides its not time to get off stage and played 1 more song. This despite the guitarist being an organizer and knowing the problems and delays. I can tell you I was not happy.

So anyway assurances continued that Prayag would get off at 8:46 and Sceptre by 9:16. I however told him that I was sure it would become 9:40. Anyway so by the time Prayag got off stage it was 8:50 got 54 I think so they got a nice slot. Sceptre proceeded to get on stage and the organizers imaginary 5minute check actually ended around 9:15 and I was informed we could get on stage at 9:40 and lots of talks about 80% confirmation about getting permission till 10:30 and all which I know better than anyone doesn't happen. So 9:45 Sceptre was getting of stage. So we finally got on stage and since we took about 10-12 minutes to setup because frankly it can't be done faster. We played the fastest set of our lives. Performance was okay but it was so hard to enjoy the show because a Workshop gig is an experience which is beyond the music its about what goes on in between and it really sucked to play like that. But we played anyway

The only reason I played like this was because I met more than 5 people in the audience who said we've come to see Workshop and it would be really unfair to them if we didn't play. Anyway I felt like shit after the gig. Lots of issues. The organizers apologized a million times and I know a lot of things were not in their control and they'll learn from their mistakes and I guess I learn from mine. So then finally headed back home on a not so nice note.

But today is a new day and we will have more shows and better shows and what matters is that there are people who like our music and they make playing worth it and thats the fun part and we'll take it from there.

Demonic Cookery - Episode 10

It all started with some left over spaghetti lying in the Friday and a Sunday evening with no dinner fixed. So I said lets rock and roll. :)

Spaghetti ala Demonic

The Meal

Ingredients

All the raw material.

Spaghetti
Beef Mince (I used burger patties bought from Josephs Meat Mart and I cut that up)
4-5 Cloves of Garlic
1 Large Onions
Butter
Olive Oil
2 Tomatoes
2 Olives
1/2 Jalapeños
Salt & Pepper
Herbs

Preparation

1.Heat the oil and butter in a pan and once hot sautee the garlic and onions

The Meal

Another Sunday night and I had to make dinner for myself. There was some rice in the fridge, some potato wedges and random things. But the inspirational ingredient was the PEANUT SAUCE left over from my parents party the previous night where my aunt Bina had got some home made chicken satay and peanut sauce and I will go on record and say this was the MOST amazing peanut sauce I've ever tasted.

So I prepared to make whatever I could. So I used some left over chicken and the peanut sauce and make a peanut sauce chicken, some baked potato wedges and my own creation of Demonic Italian Butter Rice. So accompany this awesome meal I whipped up a demonic cocktail as well.

The Demonic Black Currant and Wine Cooler

The Drink

Ingredients
1 Part Vodka+Rum
1 Part Wine
1 Part Black Currant Syrup
1 Part Soda
1 Part Cola
1 Part Lime

Preparation
1. Mix it all together.
2. Drink it! :)

The Potato Wedges

Ingredients
1 Packet McCain Potato Wedges
2 Table Spoons Olive Oil

Preparation
1. Grease Tray
2. Bake for 8minutes or so turning around now and then.

Voila!! Yummy Yummy and not as fattening as deep frying them.

1 Part Rice
Crushed Carlic
Some butter
Olive Oil
Some herbs
Chopped Olives
Spring Onions

Preparation
1. Heat the butter in a pan and sautee the garlic and onions.
2. Add the rice and cook some more.
3. Sprinkle the herbs, chopped olives, olive oil and some salt pepper to taste.
4. Serve Hot!

So that's how I made my most awesome meal in the last 3months at least!! The previous one being some beef steak I made at home, but that's another story :)

Demonic Cookery - Episode 8

Well on Sunday night I was being the dutiful brother and was coaxed into cooking a cheese omelet for my brother, so I decided to do something different with it and so I made a CHEESE OMELET PIZZA!!! Due credit to my grandad for coming up with this awesome variation.

Ingredients
2-3 Eggs
Salt & Pepper
Oregano or Italian Seasoning
Spring Onions (you can use any veggies you like)
Milk
Pizza Cheese (I used amul)
*you can also add any meats to this recipe to make it interesting.

Preparation
1. Mix the ingredients in a bowl (eggs, milk, seasoning and onions) and beat them up.
2. Heat the oil in the pan and pour the mixture in and let it cook on a slow flame
3. Grate the cheese all over the egg and then once the bottom of the egg is cooked put the frying pan in the oven with the heat from the top on.
4. Remove after the cheese is golden brown and serve.

Demonic Cookery - Episode 7

Hello All,
Its been a while since the last one and I finally got around to cooking something I've wanted to do for a long long time but never did and since my mom was out of town what better time to experiment. Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you: Demonic Spaghetti and Meatballs

Now I did make a few errors mainly because I choose not to measure and plan but I've figured out what corrective measures to take next time so I have mentioned those as well.

Demonic Spaghetti and Meatballs

Ingredients
For the meatballs:
1/2 Kg Mutton Mince (I'd suggest you use beef, I was too lazy to go to buy it)
2 Eggs
1/2 cup milk
salt & pepper
bread crumbs
nutmeg
parsley chopped fine
garlic chopped fine
onion chopped fine
cheese (recommended Parmesan but i used Britania pizza cheese)

For the sauce:
Tomatoes Chopped
Onion Chopped
Garlic Chopped
Olive Oil
Tomato Puree
Basil Leaves
Oregano
Salt & Pepper
1 tea spoon sugar

and of course Spaghetti :P

Preparation:
1. Mix all the ingredients for the meatballs in a large bowl and mix it real nice using your hands, after which you make them into ball shaped lumps and place them in a tray. Put them in the oven for about 25minutes to cook.
2. Heat some olive oil in a pan and throw in the onion and garlic into it and let it cook till the onions are turning brown. Throw in the tomatoes, puree, seasoning and all that jazz and let it simmer.
3. Put the spaghetti in boiling water. Make sure to add salt and a little bit of oil.
4. Once the meat balls are done place them in the sauce and let it cook for a bit. Remove and place in a plate.
5. Once the spaghetti is cooked remove the water and keep aside.
6. Now the mistake I made was I mixed the spaghetti into the sauce and since I had too much spaghetti and less sauce it made it a bit dry so what you can do is just pour the sauce on the spaghetti and place 2-3 meatballs on it and garnish with a bit of olive oil and a basil leaf and serve.

I also made mushrooms but I've given that recipe before so not putting it here.

Anyway hope some of you enjoy this dish. :)

So today I was cooking for the whole family, so I tried to do something interesting with the mean, once again without using too much oil or butter or cheese.

Demonic Spring Potatoes

Ingredients
Boiled Potatoes cut how you like
Garlic
Spring Onions
Salt & Pepper
Parsley
Italian Herb or Oregano
You can also throw in Nutmeg or Basil or any herb you like.

Preparation
1.Heat the oil in the pan
2. Add the garlic and onions and sauté it in 1 tbsp of olive oil
3. Add the potatoes, salt pepper, herbs and parsley
4. Cook till done.

1.Marinate the chicken i the above ingredients
2. Cook on a dry pan adding no extra oil to it.

Mushrooms Sliced
Butter (I used Nutralite)
Salt, Pepper,
Garlic
Chicken Stock or Maggie Cube with water
Cream (or use cornflour to thicken if u want it low fat)
Vodka or cooking wine.

Preparation
1. This is similar to the LP Mushrooms.
2. Saute them in butter, add the salt pepper, let the water cook off, add the vodka and flambe, make sure you throw the garlic in there somewhere along the way.
3. Add the stock and the cream and stir till done, you can also add other ingredients as you see fit. I added some Wooster Sauce as well.
4. Pour on chicken and serve.

I've been going a little over board with the butter and cheese in a week prior to this so I said its about time I cut down and make a few meals which are lo on the fat content. So with that I created this next menu.

Lemon Pepper Mushrooms

Ingredients
Mushrooms (with stems removed)
Salt
1 Tblspn Olive Oil
Garlic Chopped Fine
Lemon Pepper Seasoning (you can try using lemon and pepper it should work :P)
A bit of VODKA or cooking wine even will do.

Preparation
1. Heat the oil in the pan.
2. Put the mushrooms in and add the salt and lemon pepper.
3. The water from the mushrooms will be brought out by the salt and seasoning.
4. Once its drying up add the garlic.
5. Turn the flame to high.
6. Add the vodka and tilt the pan so it catches fire and flambes.

Thats all there is to the mushrooms.

Ingredients
Boiled Potatoes cut in halves
Olive Oil
Oregano

For the Dressing

Preparation
1. Hang the curd till its nice and solid
2. Mix in a bowl with salt, pepper, garlic and spring onions and leave in the fridge to cool.
3. Mix the olive oil, salt, pepper and oregano in a bowl
4. Brush it onto the potatoes and bake them till nice and golden.
5. Serve with the dressing on it.

A lazy Sunday afternoon is always a good time to cook and so I figured I'd make my newest creation. A Demonic Version (well everything i cook is demonic) of Honey Mustard Chicken with Mashies and Garlic Toast.

The Honey Mustard Chicken

Ingredients
Chicken Breats
Olive Oil
Salt & Pepper
Little Butter
Honey Mustard Salad Dressing or Honey and Mustard
Cream Cheese (I used peppy cilantro flavored)
Milk
Maggie Chicken Cube or Chicken Stock
Spring Onion (used onion this time)
Garlic

Preparation
1. Marinate the chicken in salt and pepper, olive oil and a bit of the honey mustard
2. Heat some Olive oil and butter in a pan. Add the garlic and then the chicken and fry till golden brown. While this is cooking you can add the spring onion.
3. Remove chicken from the pan, add in some milk, the cream cheese (about a spoon is enough). The chicken cube and stir it till its as thick as you want it. Also taste it to see if it needs salt or anything else and you can probably add cornflour if you want to really thicken it up.
4. Once the sauce is done pour it over the chicken.

And once thats done you can serve on a plate with mashed potatoes and garlic toast and garnish with coriander or parsley and enjoy it :)

Demonic Cookery - Episode 3

So over the weekend I prepared a 'demonic' dinner for 4. Pretty easy and fun stuff to make and eat as well. So I'll break it down :)

Menu:
Maple Glazed Carrots
Mushroom Ragout on Garlic Toast
Mashy Capsicum Delight
Cheesy Demonic Chicken

Special Mention: Chocolate Mousse made by Anushka, Fine Vodka & Absinthe by Deepti and dinner music (drums) by Kanika.

Maple Glazed Carrots

Ingredients:
1.Carrots
2. Maple Syrup
3. Olive Oil
3. Salt & Pepper
4. Nutmeg
5. Cinnamon

Preparation:
1. Cut, clean and steam the carrots till relatively tender.
2. Heat the oil and maple syrup in a pan, say it u put similar quantities of oil adn syrup.
3. Throw in the carrots and saute them
4. Remove and season with salt, pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon and then serve.

Mushroom Ragout on garlic toast

Ingredients:
1. Normal Mushrooms, about 2 packets sliced up
2. Butter about 2 table spoons
3. chopped garlic about 2 cloves
4. salt and pepper
5. Thick cream
6. 1/2 cup chicken or vegetable stock
7. You can use a herb of your choice, I used Italian Seasoning mix.
8. Readymade garlic toast or just rub a clove of garlic over a toast directly from the toaster

Preparation:
1. Heat the butter in a pan till hot and frothy
2. Put in the mushrooms, salt and pepper.
3. Keep cooking it for a while, the salt and pepper will get the water out of the mushrooms and you will need to cook it for almost 10 min or more till the water dries out and the mushrooms start to brown.
4. Once its all dried add the garlic and cook for a minute or so.
5. Add the broth/stock and stir in, then add the cream too it and also your herbs
6. Stir it around till it thickens a bit
7. Remove, pour over the toast and serve. I'm sure if you have some Parmesan cheese you can grate or sprinkle it over.

Mashy Capsicum Delight

Ingredients:
1. Capsicums
2. Potatoes
3. Cheese
4. Butter
5. Milks
6. Garlic Salt
7. Pepper

Preparation:
1. Boil the potatoes, cut them in half, scoop out the middle and put it in a bowl. I don't know why but i think its better to do it this way rather than removing the skin and using as is. Don't ask why :P
2. Cut the top of the capsicum and remove all the insides.
3. Mash the potatoes along with the cheese, butter, milk, salt, pepper, garlic and whatever else you'd like in it, be creative :P
4. Put the mashed potatoes in the capsicum and put a bit of grated cheese on top
5. Bake in the oven till brown and serve.

Cheesy Demonic Chicken

Ingredients:
1. Boneless Chicken Breasts
2. Spring Onions
3. Garlic.
4. Milk
5. Wine
6. Salt & Pepper
7. Cream (you can use low fat)
8. CHESEEEEEEEEEEEEE, you can use all kinds.

Preparation:
1. Cut up the chicken breasts, marinate it with salt, pepper, wine and milk.
2. Heat oil in the pan, put in the garlic till it starts to brown after which you put in the chicken till it gets nice and brow.
3. Pour in the cream and grate a truckload of cheese on it and stir it around till you get a nice gravy texture.
4. Serve it!!!

Phew!!! That pretty much takes care of the entire meal, you can serve a nice soft garlic bread with this meal.

Demonic Cookery - Episode 2

Wokay, after a long time I write a note and instead of a random rant I thought a another recipe would do some good to peoples tummy's if nothing else :P

Now this recipe was derived from the Italian dish 'Chicken Piccatta'. Anyway this was my take on the dish.

Ingredients:
Some chicken breats (back off pervs)
All purpose Flour
Herbs of choice (oregano, chilli flakes, paprika etc)
Butter
Lemon Juice
Water/Chicken Broth
Salt
Pepper
Olive Oil

Preparation:

1. Take em chicken tits :P and beat em nice and flat.
2. Mix the flour, herbs, salt and pepper in a dish.
3. Heat the oil and butter (say 2 tbsp oil and 3 butter)
4. Coat the chicken with flour and cook it in the pan till golden brown which would be about 3min each side.
5. Remove in a separate dish and keep.
6. In the stuff thats left in the pan add the chicken broth and lime juice and stir for a bit.
7. Add the chicken in it cook for a bit more and remove.
8. Garnish with lime slices and spring onion if you like.

And thats pretty much all there is too it :)

I'm a decent chef. Some might agree, some might not. Either way I cooked a meal this evening and I would have to say its one of my best yet.

So ladies and gentleman I present to you the recipe for

'Demonic Pepper Bacon Chicken'

Ingredients:

Some chicken(but obvious)
Bacon (strip off the fat if u like it not)
Pepperoni (optional)
Mushrooms
Spring Onions
Red Peppers
Yellow Peppers
Pamesean Cheese
Blue Cheese Dressing
Olive Oil
Garlic Salt (or get proper garlic and salt)
Italian Herbs
Milk

Take the chicken, mix it with some milks, pameasean cheese, blue cheese dressing. You can add pepper to taste.

Chop the bacon and pepperoni, the onions and mushrooms, the peppers.

Throw the bacon, pepperoni, onions, mushroom,s garlic salt, Italian herbs and peppers into a pan and cook till the bacon is crisp and the onions are brown but not burnt.

In a separate pan put the olive oil and fry the chicken till golden brownish and then throw in the above mixture, and mix it all some more let the flavours mix with each other and then serve yourself and pig out like a dog or pig or animal of your choice.

So there you have it.

Demonic Pepper Bacon Chicken

The Launchpad Chronicles - The House Of Rock!!! \m/

When Channel V announced that Launchpad was back for a IIIrd season there was much talk and buzz on the forums and among musicians. When they announced that the format was different and it would include 7 bands locked in a house the rumors and speculation started and everyone was thinking 'what the fuck is going on' - 'whats this nonsense' and so on and so forth. I think everyone feared the worst, that the show was now going to be big brother part 2 and the music would take a back seat. When the rules and regulations came out and the much talked about contract and t & c of the show, the word was out that channel V was going to screw the bands over.

All that was so wrong!!! Launchpad III was a once in a lifetime experience. I can safely say that even though at the end of the day it is a TV show and TRPs etc are important there were always people who made sure that the show did not lose focus from the most important thing in it...... the MUSIC!!!

Well anyway when I 1st read about it I knew that Workshop in a house would be complete madness and there were some others that shared the thought. After much debate, checking, calling and figuring out that our music won't be stolen by channel V and used we sent in our entries and made it to the top 20 bands from god knows how many. This year channel V decided to allow bands singing in any language to take part which really didn't make any drastic difference. So after making a trip to the office and reading the contract which had a cool clause saying if we die we can't hold channel V responsible and after checking that Raj could drop out from Workshop after round 1 if we got through we signed the dotted line.

So the journey starts with Riju packing his bag 4 days in advance and leaving it at my place till we made it to the house. The 1st audition was at Andheri sports complex between 20 bands that were selected. Each band would get 1 song to perform. Also we were called there at 7am and were told that if we reached at 7:05 we would get disqualified which we later discovered was an evil ploy to make sure we were on time. Anyway we did shit loads of shooting and stuff and were told Vishal won't judge us that day and lo and be hold 10 minutes later Vishal walks past all of us.

Now I must make it a point to mention this as I know a lot of metal heads don't quite like Vishal for whatever reason but I honestly think the man deserves a hand/break/kit-kat/applaus

e or whatever form of respect you give to deserving people. I'll explain and I swear I'm not sucking up or anything cause I really don't give a fuck enough to, I call the shots as I see them. When he came to the venue he made it a point to come and speak to every single band and have a chat with them which I think was really cool. After that when we went for our auditions we saw the most sidey crowd ever as it was some paid crowd that had come from like some ganpati parade to vote for the bands to which Vishal kicked all the producers butts and made sure that the 'b-grade' crowd was removed as the bands deserved better than that. Lets just say finally it was Vishal who sat and judged all the bands. He could have easily just said fuck it play the shoot will end earlier but he made sure we got a fair deal and he also bothered to check that the bands were fed and taken care off. I'll also make it a point to mention that he is one of the fairest judges and most accurate. I had said this after Launchpad 1 where he judged DR and he was spot on about our flaws and he was equally accurate this time, in fact I'll go as far to say that most of the so called celebs who come to judge college festivals are rarely ever this fair and accurate in making judgment and have much more attitude.

Special Edit: Also must compliment our 2nd judge bobby and from henceforth, 'Brunch with Bobby' will be the new 'Koffee with Karan' .... very interesting sessions where Bobby briefed us on our tasks and also Bobby was the man of the hour and his hindi is very good. His judging was also very fair and unbiased. It was good to have him on the panel.

Since I'm at it might as well mention Shaa'ir and Func (Monica & Randolf) and Raghu Dixit who judged us and all I can say is all these people are really tuned into whats going on and they really are a great bunch of musicians and it was really great that they agreed to be part of this show and they really did a good job judging the bands. A big thanks to all of the judges then!!! Also extra thanks to Randolf for the cool drawing he did for Workshop! :P I'll upload that sometime.

Anyway moving on. We were also told from the 20 bands 15 would move on to round 2 and Workshop made it through. We played the song 'I came' and got a great response and it was also the tightest we've ever been on stage. So the next day was round 2 which was in the Channel V studio where Vishal, Bobby and Anirban were judging the bands and we played She Folked Up My Jazz without Raj as he dropped out due to IIT pressure. So when we played the judges had their most grim faces and grilled us after which they burst out into smiles telling us they loved what we played and that we'd been had. So all said and done there was a judgment where bands at 5 at a time went on to find their fate and finally after scaring us again we were told we made it into the 7 bands that would move into the house.

Also have to mention chilling out with all the 20 bands was good fun, special mention t Anus The Menace, Fire Exit and whoever else we met and hung out with. Good times!!

Anyway So two days later we moved into 'The House Of Rock' which was this amazing place and Channel V had done it up really well. It was Prachir & Cassinis Divison from Kolkata, Faridkot, Blank Noize & The Circus from Delhi and Reverse Polarity and Workshop from Mumbai. Going into the house I thought that the only band we'd beat for sure would be Reverse Polarity and my god how wrong I was because they up'd their game and have kicked everyones ass so far!!! Anyway living with so many bands was an amazing experience. I cannot stress enough on how great it was to meet all these musicians and just the whole experience was so awesome. We had brunch with Bobby and Eliminations and did some shitty tasks like making a song in 10minutes after being given a word and even doing a cover our own way. I thought about going into detail but for now I'll keep it short so that there is stuff to watch when the show is out. But basically there was no big brother style crap, they just filmed us doing what we do, playing the fool, playing guitars etc etc. We all did a shoot with Rolling Stone, we played at Blue fucking Frog!!! and Reverse Polarity even jumped naked into the swimming pool.

A little bit about the bands we shared a house with.
Parchir - A great band, very quiet guys and I can honestly say the guys with the most heart and courage in the house, they really worked their asses off. Their bassist left them just before they entered the house and they still kicked ass. Very nice guys, I wish them the best.

Blank Noize - My main man Nikhils band and man they were very cool, it was great hanging out with them. They've already got two albums out and are good musicians, I loved their version of Glassi but sadly it wasn't good enough to keep them there. Hats off boys it was great sharing the stage. You Homos :P (this is an inside joke :P)

Cassinis Divison - Another quiet bunch from Kolkata till you get to know them better then they are life and death of the party. Great band and Rahul is just INSANE!!! The man and an acoustic guitar will have u mesmerized for days on end. He was the life and death of the party and I think they just floored all the bands with their songs. A great bunch of people if I do say so myself.

Faridkot - Serial molesters Raj and Gavin!! :P hahahhaa but man another great bunch of guys, Gavin is seriously funny!!! A great bunch of musicians, Tarun from Berkelee School of music and Raj who I think is like Warren Jr. and IP who is a great singer. Not to forget Raheja Sahab the electronica wiz who also was part of Frequency and in launchpad 2.And last but not least Gavin the great!! :p

Reverse Polarity - The underdogs in the contest and man oh man have they proved their worth!!! They just ripped each time they performed. Looks like Brother might also win the show like his sister won the Viva band thingy!! Runs in the Manchanda family I guess (:P). Great job boys!!! I never expected this and that makes it all the more special. Much deserved.

The Circus - I saw them at Blitzkrieg in Delhi and they were pretty decent but now they have improved and their bassist fucking rips!!!! The whole band is great and I really love their music, they are awesome fun to hang out with and chill with, great bunch of people!!

Workshop - Often called The Workshop for some strange reason, we had fun in the house and we loved being a part of this show and hanging out with all the bands. But finally we did get eliminated inspite of improving our performance each time (except the 1 make a song in 10minutes one) but I guess its more than just that. I guess its just depends on just that small slip up like song selection or even making 1 or 2 mistakes because all the bands are so tight and so good that it makes judging really hard.

Anyway it does suck to be eliminated but I guess we made a bad song choice and thats all it comes down to. Its going to be a great contest. The channel V crew has worked extremely hard and a big thank you to all of them: Sunder, Vivek, Romit, Suyash, Pranoy, Varun, all the camera men and sound guys. Workshop infected them all and by the end of it the camera people were dropping their camera's and laughing because we fucking cracked everyone up. Anyway there is tons of good footage and I really hope channel V makes some left over launchpad outtakes and puts them up on youtube.

I am really glad that we took part and next year I hope to join Vishal and Bobby on the launchpad Jury

Also a special thanks to my girlfriend Deepti for always being there :) and also Husain for coming for the gig at Blue Frog and supporting us and also to the future Murga Ashwin who showed up as well.

So guys don't miss the show when it airs. I'll try and get Hamza and Riju to write out some of the funnies that might not find its way onto the show

It is but fragile, a solitary mass of flesh, the sensors working overtime processing the pain and sending the signals, but the skin does not respond, it is cold and inexpressive. It is the cold hard shell that shows no pain, no hurt, no grief, it continues to smile while the little world that lives, collapses inside. There is no cure for this kind of hurt, it stings and burns and can even induce tears, but he will not cry, he never did and he won't start now. If he had a choice he'd curl up into a ball and die. That however is not an option, the skin will not give in, the muscles wont relent and the smile shall remain in full public view. I close the door only to find myself in solitude but I can't cry here either, he is strong, he has to live on. There are moments in life where the world comes crashing down, its strange how sometimes the frequency goes up and the fact that its weighing you down leaves you a little more helpless than before but the vulnerability must not be exposed. We only control ourselves, we control no others. It is the giving of a solitary mass of flesh that leds to despair because what must be broken, will be. And there is no way for me to save myself from all that could have been but will never be... and what must be broken, will be.

And all the doors are closed...

... And all the doors are closed as he lay there, wounded but not bleeding. Still it feels like the cuts run deep and the blood is leaving his body.... slowly dripping. But there are no visible wounds, there are no scars that leave marks and there is no evidence of devastation except for the look in his eyes. He feels paralyzed, helpless and full of despair, will he ever love again? Will he be able to open his heart to the world at large or shall the door be locked for all. He stares blankly at the wall, the speed of mind defeats the speed of light, the visions that flash, all the hours that have been spent. The hours that waited, the road that was traveled and the picture that was never seen. The sweet pain he tasted and the door that showed he was not needed. The walk from her heart to his home. He silently laments, not a visible trace of devastation. Even his eyes .... they stop speaking even to those listening. There is a culmination of the sorrow but there are no tears to show...buried in a casket so the world does not know. He walks the streets for hours on end, to the lonely home that is his friend. For the song that saves him each day.... he sings to find his way back home and he yearns for her once more..... but all the doors are closed.

She stared into the night sky, her heart slowly beating, no tears here but just a glimmer of hope shines bright. She stares into the darkness, no tears here just a hope and a wish. The sky opens up and a bright light shines down on her, she stares with those eyes, her eyes are earnest and hopeful. She is longing, she longs to belong, somewhere and to someone. Forever she bottled the hurt, the pain and the emptiness grew and she became numb. No tears here, she is just one. Once scarred she closed her heart and not even a world could tear it apart. Everything she loved, longed, wished and wanted stayed in and the doors still sealed. Will she trust the light, will she open her heart to it. She wondered if she could trust enough, if she let him in would he break her heart just like the others? She would never recover again, she spent her life burying the pain, is it worth to be vulnerable to it all again. The night sky held open its arms and she stepped into the light, her heart slowly beating, no tears here, just a sense of belonging.

And all you do in life, goes back to you........

Every time that you hurt someone, do something bad, make someone cry or even so much as turn away in an hour of need. There is a record made, a mark, an entry and it is saved for later. It will come back and bite you in the ass. If you broke someone's heart, your heart will be broken in the future. Some of us are lucky enough to realize that the infinite loop of payback is rolling and the circle must be complete. Its very easy to say, sure I see it your way. But unless and untill you ARE in someone else's shoes you will never have a clue. So at the end of the day, we are destined to reap what we have sown. I knew it was coming someday, I just didn't expect it so soon, cause all you do in life goes back to you.......

And I wished I was special, or maybe just a little better...

All through my life I wished I was more than what I knew I really am. Like when I'd have given an exam and I knew I was getting a 50% but hoping against all hope that when the paper comes into my hand that I'd have got a 90% or something, that my IQ test would show I was brilliant and beyond but the end result was always average. Or like I'd like a girl and I knew she didn't feel the same way but knowing she'd turn me down I'd say it anyway just with the hope that I was something better than what I really was. I guess you can only be so delusional in life before it starts affecting you seriously, I for one have always tried and keep my head out of the clouds, stop myself from getting carried away and at times I know I might have even...... which generally leads to pain and regret. How I wish I was special, something more than a struggling musician, something more than a fat ugly boy, something more than just an average joe. I think I will wish a little each day that the brilliance I wish I always had will show in some little way and someone might say, there goes a guy who is special (and i don't mean it in a look at that retard type of way). I used to wish I was the kind of guy girls would look at twice because he's hot and not look twice and laugh because I look like some cross between a Simpson character and a baboon :P or that I could play that fiery guitar solo instead of hitting 20 bum notes every time I used string 1 and 2. But I guess we are what we are and we must make the most of it. And I wished I was special, or maybe just a little better....

And at the end of the day, nobody cares...

We all have our struggles in life, we are all consumed by our very own mundane existence.We are engulfed by ourselves and our selfishness, the fact is everyone is selfish, anyone who believes otherwise is just kidding themselves. This doesn't mean that people are bad or that they don't attend to a friend in suffering nor does it mean they can't be expected to be there when you need a shoulder to cry, there are plenty of giving souls in the world, some more than others. But even these angels are not devoid of some amount of selfishness. But there are some of us who no matter what happens have no one to lean on, in fact we don't even want it, or at least thats what we tell the world. How far can you go on your own? How many times can you pick yourself up when you fall? How can you expect anyone to stand behind you forever when you wont trust them with anything? Walking this long dark road on your own is your destiny, its your path, its your goal its your everything. There are so many who will pledge allegiance and support along the way and will make a sad face and say awww when you fall but they'll stand oh so still and watch you pick yourself out of the mud and resume your journey. Can you really blame them? The answer is no because at the end of the day nobody cares........

And none of this was ever built to last......

It started by chance, a few words were spoken, a flash of light and a dream was born. I saw all that stood in my path, it seemed impossible, a herculean task ahead but that wouldn't stop him. The little boy knew deep down inside he would never succeed but he had the blessings of elders and the will of a warrior, he would carry forth on this journey. The search is what started it all and the journey began well as it should have, along the journey people came and went, still I carried forward without looking back, they called me things, they said I would never make it, they said I was nothing........ but he stood strong. Against all the hate, ill wishes and pain he trudged forward. Phase I ended with a small victory, a small mark a set of new friends and beings, but trouble was never far behind and many succumbed along the journey and still we carried forth, so much pain. We needed so much but there was nothing, we had to build it all from scratch. Each night he did dream, he wished for help, but when no one understands the very reason for your being they cannot help much, how can they understand your flaws and shortcomings when they know not the heart that lies yonder? The battle raged on but he was weak and on his last legs and finally they all died, he saw how they all left and he lay there wounded, hurt but still with a spark in his eye that would say that its not yet time die. And so it shall be written and so it shall be done, the resurrection did take place and with a new fire they moved forth and though there were many hurdles the new army battled away to glory..... however life has a rule that after the calm comes the storm, and there was another battle ahead. So with more losses and troubles the world moved on, but a sadness remained. 7 years is a long time for anything, the hope in the little boys eyes had weakened. His eyes were filled with tears of sadness, but he still says 'We've come so far and we've built so much how can we stop now?'. But when at the end of the day you're still one against the world and even those nearest cannot understand the very reason for your existence, how can a little boy not die? It is easy to speak and offer comfort especially when convenience belongs to you, but to raise your sword, understand and fight by my side? Its not possible, I know you dream off your own. It is selfish to ask one to forsake something for your dream. And so it shall be written and so it shall be done, with this hurt, pain and still a small ray of hope in my heart, I will carry on.

And everything crumbles to dust and all thats left is me....

The world around me feels strange, its raining outside and the sky is at its gloomy best. I feel like the life has been sucked out of me, I do have some sort of medical condition, what started out as a simple cold has transformed into something far worse. My throat feels puffy, nose blocked and all my energy has been drained. I don't think I am running a temperature,I feel just sick and lifeless. My mental state has been depleted, my thoughts disturbed. We say and do so many wrong things in life, we create our own chaos. Its so easy to picture an argument or discussion in your head, you say all the right things, your logic seems to perfect, everything seems like its justified and there is nothing but a happy ending. In reality however the scenario is never like it is in your head, there is someone there who doesn't respond the way you imagine and then within a few moments all your logic, arguments and happy endings are not quite the same. Sometimes you try so hard to achieve things in life you become oblivious to others and the only thing that really matters is reaching that goal. Along the way you make mistakes and slowly slowly the dream is all you see and nothing else matters and in that span of time we make the biggest mistakes of our lives but because our desire is such we tend to overlook the pain we cause others and in the bargain we break hearts, destroy friendships and while we travel through the journey of life in pursuit of all that is, the world around me will perish. And everything crumbles to dust and all thats left is me........

And so my misery became immortal......

Notes, blogs and other assorted cyber journals for all purposes seem more than anything to be an outlet for ones miserable pathetic life, existence and other assorted negative feelings. I assume this is not true for everyone but some how I myself don't seem to care enough or bother to write something here unless I'm truly and utterly thrown into a random state of mental disturbance where misery, confusion, sadness, anger, chaos and other words which basically means sad and confused are the key elements. Its the time when all hope fails and you just want the day to end. The cure is sleep..... I had a dream, I can't recall.. but it was so wonderful I almost cried that I woke up..... I hate reality, it seems so flawed. I want to find my way back........ find my way back home...... home to you. The dream that will cease to exist, the dream that is not real, the dream where I am happy. Or the other alternative is to sleep tonight and wake up and carry on with life as I know it tomorrow, maybe it will be better, maybe I'll just be here writing random rubbish that no one will read or 225 facebook friends will find somewhat amusing, partially a waste of their time and probably just a solution for 7 and a half minutes of boredom.

And so it shall be done.....

Life is nothing but a curve, up and down, sometimes round and round. There are moments where we curse our very existence and then there are those where we are nothing short of blissful that we are alive and living life to the fullest. This is the time when the bliss wears off, the adrenaline subsides, the bright ray of sunshine fades into an everlasting darkness. All good things come to and end. Everything dies and there is nothing we can do but wait to be reborn again, wait for that ray of sunshine to break through the darkness, to feel the life return to us once more. Till then we silently weep in the all consuming darkness.
